How do I find the right size for my dog
DogDry adjusts for dogs of different body widths. We carefully designed the shape of every DogDry so that long and short- legged dogs can move naturally while wearing it. Because it doesn’t go on over their heads, it doesn’t matter if their head is big or small.
The only measurement you need is the length of your dog’s back (In centimetres. American and British customers, think of it as cultural immersion and go with the flow of European measurements). Measure from where your dog’s collar sits on her neck to where her tail starts, when your dog is standing with her head upright.
You can find a detailed guide on the sizes usually worn by different breeds and an interactive guide to help you choose here.
We are also building a gallery of pictures of happy dogs wearing each of the five sizes and we would be over the moon if you could share with us your dog’s name, measurement and a picture wearing her new DogDry to add to our gallery. It helps others choose the right size and is especially helpful for mixed breeds and rescues in all their gorgeous diversity. Tag us on social @getawetdogdry
How do I measure my dog?
While your dog is standing with his head upright, measure along his back from where his collar sits on his neck to where his tail starts. (in centimetres.)
What are the smallest and biggest sizes you have?
XS is our smallest size and fits most Terriers, Bichon Frise and Pugs. XL is our biggest size and fits most Bernese Mountain dogs, Golden Retrievers and Greyhounds.
As a guide, if your dog is small enough to fit in a handbag, we don’t yet have a size to fit. If your dog is the size of a small pony, we don’t yet have a size to fit.
Our 2XS size will be available in November 2022 and will fit dogs measuring 28cm – 33cm. (Miniature Yorkies, Miniature Dachshunds, but still too big for a Teacup dog)
If you would like us to get in touch when we have new sizes, sign up to our newsletter. We won’t hound you. We’ll be in touch about once a month.
What if I want to give it as a gift and I don’t know the breed or the measurement?
In this case, it is best to buy a gift voucher. We can email it to you or to the lucky person who will receive the gift. Then they can come to DogDry.com, choose the right size and we will deliver it. Please note, shipping to Ireland and Northern Ireland is free when you pay with a voucher valued at €79/ £75. There may be additional delivery charges for shipping to other destinations.
How long does it take to dry a dog?
It depends! How long is their hair? How wet were they when you put it on? DogDry starts to work as soon as you put it on, wicking away moisture from your dog’s body. It can take between 5 and 15 minutes to fully absorb all the moisture into the super-absorbent middle fabric. The waterproof outer fabric keeps the mess contained until you are ready to take it off.
Because DogDry is breathable and cut to allow your dog to move naturally, your dog will stay at a comfortable temperature while wearing it and can jump into the car or lie down for a snooze as they dry.
DogDry is a fabulous replacement for towels but it’s not a hairdryer. It gets your dog dry. It doesn’t give a salon finish blow dry.
You need to manually dry their paws, tail and sensitive ears with the detachable mitt. It’s a good opportunity for a little cuddle. Most dogs hate having these bits covered, that’s why we’ve included a drying mitt with every DogDry robe.
Comfort is king! Your dog won’t mind if they wear it for 5 minutes or 500 minutes if they are comfortable.
Will it get rid of wet dog smell?
It helps. A lot! Naturally occurring bacteria and fungi on your dog’s body having a breeding frenzy in a warm, damp environment causes wet dog smell. These good bugs release volatile ( that means smelly) by-products of their reproduction frenzy into the air. When you cover your wet dog’s body with a DogDry, the three layers of performance fabrics trap the volatile compounds so they don’t stink up air inside your car or home. Then, when you dry your DogDry outside in fresh air, the breeze whisks it all away. Wind works wonders.
Can I wash it in the washing machine?
Yep! You can. There is so much to say about washing. It’s all here
Can I customise my DogDry with my dog’s name?
We don’t offer this service but if you would like to have your DogDry customised there are custom printers and embroiderers in most big towns. Please note that puncturing the waterproof outer fabric with a needle for embroidery will damage the waterproofing in that area of your DogDry.
Orders and Shipping
Can I order if my size is out of stock?
How will you ship my DogDry?
With An Post (The Irish Post Office) express tracked delivery service. It takes 1-2 days within Ireland and Northern Ireland, 3-4 days within Europe and a little longer elsewhere, usually 5-6 days. There are some countries where the post delivery service is not the best, so in these cases, we will ship by DPD, DHL or another courier that has good service in the delivery country.
Can I return my DogDry if it doesn’t fit?
Of course. You have 30 days to think about it. If the DogDry is unworn and the labels are still attached, returns are easy. Just package it up and send it back to us. You’ll need to pay for the postage cost and please be sure to ship the package with a service that offers tracking and insurance. DogDry cannot replace packages lost during shipment if proof of tracking is unavailable.
Better still. Let’s get the size right first time. If you are not sure, even after using our size guide, just drop us an email with a photo of your dog and we’ll be happy to help. email@example.com
Why are the small sizes the same price as the big sizes?
We’re glad you asked!
For starters, and we are going to take a stand on this, we believe all dogs are created equal so we don’t discriminate against dogs based on the size of their bodies.
For seconds, we have small dogs in our family and we know that small dogs can make just as big a mess as large dogs. It’s all about the length of their hair and the way they shake their bodies when wet.
For thirds, it costs almost as much to make a very small DogDry as a very large DogDry. The shape is cut from a standard width of fabric so with very small sizes, there is more fabric waste. (Sign up to our newsletter here to find out how we deal with fabric off-cuts). Also, sewing a small size is more intricate, so it takes just as long to sew as a big size where the machinist can whizz along at pace.
And for fourths, the cost to ship a DogDry to you is the same, whether it is a size XS or an XL.
So, we decided they should all be the same price, whether for big dogs, small dogs, 3- legged dogs or 4. Every dog everywhere has the right to play outdoors and DogDry takes care of the mess, no matter what size the maker of the mess.
Can you do repairs?
Not yet, but we are looking into it. Sign up for our newsletter and we’ll let you know how we are progressing.
